About us

This project is the result of the course Expert in Teamwork - Saving the World is not Rocket Science, Spring 2021, from NTNU - Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Experts in Teamwork (EiT) is a master’s degree course in which students develop their interdisciplinary teamwork skills.

The members of this team are:

Astrid

Astrid is from Norway and has a background from innovation, biology and aquaculture with a bachelor in biomarine innovation. Now she is doing a master's in food, technology and sustainability. Astrid has previous experience with building hydroponics systems. During her bachelor project she built a hydroponic nutrient film technique system. She tested how tomato plants and spinach grew at different salinities, and with waste products from land-based aquaculture as nutrients. Doing this project made her more interested in hydroponics. Having done something similar before gives insight in how this system could be built, which problems might occur and what materials are needed. Astrid also has experience in germinating seeds and growing plants at home.

Elly

Elly is a brazilian control systems engineer currently doing her master degree in natural gas technology. She enjoys home gardening but until this project, had no experience with hydroponics or bokashi.

Iselin

Iselin a master's student from Bergen, Norway who completed her BSc in biology in New Zealand. She is now specializing in ecology, behavior, evolution, and biosystematics. Her background knowledge includes theoretical and practical knowledge of growing plants. She has gardening as a hobby and has long been interested in learning more about bokashi and seeing how it works in practice.

Kaushik

Kaushik is a Naval Architect from India currently pursuing a master’s degree in marine technology. He has a few years of working experience in the industry and is a very good team player. He lacks the necessary academic background related to the subject i.e., Hydroponics and Bokashi but is keen to learn and understand about the process.
